hair cut

I cut my hair a bit yesterday and I find it always looks best on days that I do this. I may become one of those eccentric people that get haircuts every week in her adult years.

Today I was just at work in this outfit, casual Saturday, one might call it. After 3 weeks of working at the Library, I was "in charge" there today and had to undo the alarm, and set it again when I left etc. I gelt a little nervous for not being nervous, but I think it all worked out.

Here my pants are from Bronwyn, from Club Monaco, the t-shirt is American Apparel, the shoes are Kenneth Cole, the belt was taken from father, and the hair is mostly me :)

ps, I can't figure out why all of this is underlined...I'm just hoping it will go away when I post it...don't you miss my laissez-faire approach to technology? Haha, ohhhh dear.

vest

On Friday I only had work at the library, as classes run from Monday-Thursday. After work I came home, wore tights as pants (yeah, that's right--I do what I want) and read until hot yoga later that night.

The vest is from gap, the shirt dress is from Banana Republic. I love the vest but find that I never know how to wear it/what to wear it with...Rachel, weigh in?

This was my outfit on Thursday, June 24:

The cardigan is from gap (I'm in love with it), and it's perfect for Annap. because it's flowy (sp?) and light, but covers so the sun doesn't hurt me. The tank top underneath is also from gap, and the skirt is from H & M. The mug is from this awesome store in North Conway, NH, and it was made in Mexico. I love it so hard, so I wanted to feature it here for you to enjoy as well :)

Can you tell?

Today I had no library duty, which was nice. I woke up, spent a good 5 hours with my buddy Aristotle, had a cute little Skype date with my sister, then went to class. I didn't change once (rare for me), so here is what I wore aaaaaaaaaallll day:

The dress is from T.J. Maxx, and the shoes are from Old Navy, and the belt, I think, comes from Value Village, Charlottetown. I love this dress because it's so simple, or at least it looks simple until.......bam!

I'm wearing the dress backwards, just because I thought it looked better this way...am I alone? Can you tell? Here is a shot of my gold leaf earrings, which I believe were also from Value Village, Charlottetown:

Fixer-upper

Today I really fell in love with this dress. I must say, it's been a long journey. I bought it in Kensington (fill a bag for $30) and it was a bout mid-calf length when I bought it. Not wanting to alter the dress, I left it long for over a year until I realized that the length always makes me change my mind when I'd go to put it on in the morning. So I cut it to just above the knee, fixed some little rips in the seems so I don't have to worry about covering bits of it, and I think it looks way better. Also, the dress is super sheer, so I found the perfect slip and cut it to length to wear underneath--just so there are still somethings left to the imagination! I got a lot of compliments on the dress today, which was sweet because it was the first time I was really loving the way that it looked on, and I've always felt that things like that are noticed by others.

How much I enjoyed the dress is also evident in how many pictures I took! Hope you enjoy (especially the ones where I'm multitasking with tea in hand!):

First Day of Classes

This was my outfit for the first day of school (I felt like my own mother, taking my photos to remember my "first day outfit" haha). The first day proposed a bit of a challenge, just in terms of having to attend many diverse functions with no time inbetween time to change, which is probably why I went for the LBD. I had to work at the Library in the morning, then head straight to registration, then have my student id photo taken, then head to the official (formal) welcome reception for the graduate institute students, then go to classes from 2:30pm-9:30pm. THEN after that I went to this thing called "After Seminar Gathering" which I found out is kind of a big deal. It is basically this pretty informal gathering of the graduate students in a pretty formal room on campus. This happens twice a week after late night seminar and the students show up to mingle and enjoy wine/beer/food all curtisy of the college (oh so THAT'S why I'm paying so much tuition!). All in all the nights are a fun time for students to hang out with professors (called "tutors" at St. John's) and eat/drink in a fancy setting. Very enjoyable. Back to my original point, I needed a fairly versatile outfit for the day's events, and this is what I chose. Old faithful, can't go wrong with the infamous little black dress.

Skype Outfits, Apparently

After taking the pictures of my room the other day I moved some things around and made it even more sweet in here. I now have my own comfy reading chair and a few other new additions.

Yesterday morning I had a nice leisurely read before heading out for a Skype date (story of my life). Here is what I wore to the Skype date: skirt-Urban Outfitters, tube top- Forever 21, shoes- Old Navy, crazy big silver ring that you can't see very well- Club Monaco.




In the afternoon I came home, read, and then went out for a Father's Day Skpye date (can you find the pattern emerging?). It was later in the afternoon and I'd been lounging so I felt like something a little more casual. Here my shirt is from Urban Outfitters, pants are from H & M, belt is from The Old Hide House, shoes are Sperry's (the only reason I have friends in Annap., haha), and in the 'mid-section shot' you can see the Club Monaco ring a little bit better:
